SEEKING SUBMISSIONS: Third Annual Murder Mystery

YAM Productions is excited to announce its third annual murder mystery event in partnership with Centreville Regional Library! But we need a script: so for the first we are commissioning one! Centreville Regional Library is providing a payment of $100 for the creation of the new script and the rights to produce it. Here’s a little info about what we are looking for in a script:

• A cheesy/fun murder mystery

• Three to five script scenes with multiple breaks for the audience to mingle with our actors for improvisation, totally 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes

• A mystery for the audience to solve (multiple facts to determine: culprit(s), weapon, how, why, etc)

• A theme that allows us to reuse some of our existing design/technical elements (bookish, museum, bookstore openmic, etc.)

• An in-story event for all of our actors and the 50 audience members to gather at (previously we used a book signing and birthday party)

• 6-8 characters, at least one of whom has a published work that we can create

If selected, we propose this estimated timeline:

• May 1: proposal (idea of theme, characters, mystery)

• June 1: draft usable to planning

• July 1: draft usable in rehearsals

• August 1: final draft (no more edits except minor fixes)
